FAQs

We hope you will visit us in person soon! Here are some FAQ’s (frequently asked questions) about Kilmarnock UMC:

What can I expect when I visit? Expect a warm welcome. We know it’s a little intimidating to come into a church for the first time.  Maybe you are new to the area. Maybe you’ve never been to a United Methodist Church. Maybe you’ve never been to a church at all. Regardless, you are welcome and our door and hearts are always open

Tell me about receiving communion. We celebrate communion on the first Sunday of each month at the 11:00am service, and also every 8:30am Sunday service. There is no purposeful preparation prior to the service, as is found in some denominations. The United Methodist Church welcomes all (non-members, visitors, and children) to the Lord’s Table.

What is a service like at KUMC?

Whether you have attended church your whole life or you’ve never been before, you are welcome here! Worship is where we seek God with a joyful and open heart. Our service follows an order and style similar to other Christian faith communities. It always includes an inspiring message from PastyPenny, prayer, and music. We are honored that you would choose to spend an hour of your Sunday morning with us at KUMC.

Do you have anything for Children?

Children and families are a priority at KUMC. We have nursery care for children. Learn more about our Children’s Ministry.

What should I wear?

Come as you are! At KUMC, you’ll see plenty of dresses and suits, but t-shirts and jeans are also welcome.

How do I join?

Come and meet with Pastor Penny to learn the basics of what we believe as United Methodist and why. She’ll share our vision and the different paths to becoming a member.
